Brenda Tollett has lived in Corpus Christi most of her life. It is here she met her husband Trey and married 44 years ago. They have three children, two daughters and a son. They are grandparents to nine grandchildren, 6 darling granddaughters and 3 handsome grandsons. A retired elementary school teacher, she now enjoys time with family and friends, cooking for them, needlepointing, home keeping and spending time in Goliad and Leakey, Texas. She and Trey cherish their time with their children, their spouses and grandchildren…admitting when they go home, it’s good also!
When she was in the ninth grade Brenda placed her faith in Christ at a church camp on the banks of the Frio River at Laity Lodge Youth Camp. Once she and Trey had children, their spiritual lives took a more central role. In addition to serving in various philanthropic, school and sports organizations, Brenda was active on Young Life committee (a non-denominational Christian organization for high school students), Christian Adventure Camp and small group leader for Corpus Christi Women’s Bible Study.
It is her greatest joy to be able to serve in leadership for the Bible study and she looks forward to new relationships and time together studying God’s word.
Gwen McMath has lived in Corpus Christi for over twenty years. She worked at London I.S.D. as an elementary school teacher and special education director until her retirement in 2003. She is a widow with two married daughters, four grandsons, and one granddaughter.
Gwen became a committed Christian during the Jesus movement of the 1960’s. She and her husband, Charley, worked in the public schools for the next thirty years. They believed that God had called them to work with the children of Texas, a calling they considered a blessing and a privilege.
After Gwen retired, she wanted to be involved in a women’s Bible study. She saw a notice in the newspaper for a new interdenominational women’s Bible study. That began her involvement with CCWBS and ultimately led her to serve as a teacher and speaker in the Bible study.
Gwen loves writing. She especially loves writing about how God has moved in her life and in the lives of her family. She has recently published her first book about her husband’s grandfather, who created the Flying Red Horse in downtown Dallas in the 1930’s. It is entitled “Neon Dreams, The Story of the Texas Pegasus and the Man Who Created It.” It is both a biography and a sprirtual memoir of his life. Gwen weaves storytelling and practical life applications of her own life into her teaching and speaking. Her involvement with CCWBS has blessed her with wonderful friends and sisters in Christ and challenged her to live a life of joy and peace made possible by her one-on-one relationship with Jesus Christ. Jana MacQueen
I am the oldest daughter of two amazing humans. My dad introduced me to Jesus at the age of 7, and I watched my mom live out her faith daily. I graduated from King High School in the eighties, which was the best era of music, in my opinion. I became a Southwest Texas (TX State) Bobcat and graduated with a BA in Commercial Art. After graduation I found a job in San Antonio working for an advertising agency, then married a Marine student pilot who migrated from Ohio to fulfill his dream. He changed careers, which moved us to different communities around the nation and abroad. We have three adult children living in amazing places to visit. God’s gracious plan was to move us back to Corpus Christi to build a business, spend time and care for our parents. Bible Study allows me to explore God’s truths, gives me lessons on how to implement God’s truth and allows me to build strong Christian relationships with other Bible Study attendees. This will be my sixth year with CCWBS. You will find me with my mom welcoming all Bible Study attendees every Wednesday morning. I’m blessed and honored to be a member of the Servant Leader Team this year. I hope you will consider joining us on Wednesday mornings 9:30-11:30 AM.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of CCWBS and to grow together in faith, fellowship, and God’s Word.
My husband of 46 years, Tony, and I have spent the last 33 years in Corpus Christi. While I was born and raised in Corpus Christi and Tony in Kingsville, we have had our adventures of living in Ft. Worth, New Jersey, Austin and back to Corpus Christi. We have two sons and one grandson.
I have been blessed serving in various Presbyterian churches either as a contemporary praise band leader, elder and, most recently, a deacon. It thrills me that the Lord has not given up on me and has allowed me to serve in new and exciting ways.
After retiring from my career as a Director of Health Information Management from Driscoll Children’s Hospital, I didn’t waste any time in joining CCWBS, a Book Club, the Athletic Club and, now, a Deacon.
I’m someone who values genuine relationships, encouragement, and creating a welcoming space where women can be themselves. I’m looking forward to learning more about God, deepening my relationship with Him, and being encouraged by the stories and experiences of other women.
I believe God continues to work in each of our lives, meeting us exactly where we are and guiding us toward where He wants us to be. I’m excited for this season of growth, connection, and discovering what God has in store for each of us.
